The DSO has the responsibility for helping adults with developmental disabilities access services and supports in their communities. For those who live in the Central East Region, which includes the Regional Municipality of York, the Regional Municipality of Durham, Simcoe County, Peterborough County, Northumberland County, Haliburton County and the City of Kawartha Lakes, you can contact the DSO Central East Region, which is run by York Support Services Network.
The goal of Passport is to improve the quality of participation in the community for adults with a developmental disability.
YSSN hosts two services for families:
- Respite Access Facilitator
A facilitator (worker) works with adults and their families to identify their respite needs, develops plans, and find the resources that are right for them.
- CHAP Program (Community Helpers for Active Participation):
CHAP Program maintains a respite worker registry to assist families in hiring staff. Go to www.respiteservices.com to learn more.
